At Beads of Courage we know the value that a tangible object can have as a symbol of courage, honor, and hope. We also believe in the power of our mind to help us overcome worry and anxiety. Beads of Courage is passionate about the AYA community and we need your wisdom as we develop the Power Pendant project. What is the Power Pendant Project? Power Pendants started as an innovative idea from Angéline Fahey, who lent her wisdom to Beads of Courage after a courageous battle against osteosarcoma cancer. The idea of Power Pendants stemmed from having an amulet, or a protective piece of jewelry, that could protect oneself from evil and darkness during intense moments of anxiety. Angéline always believed in the power of good intentions and that the way we think can transform how we cope with negative situations. Using the power of our minds, objects can hold deep meaning. Power Pendants can be used as a tool to help us refocus our thoughts and remind us of our resilience when we struggle to find strength. Now as an artist herself, Angeline continues to make beautiful objects of adornment under the title Stoned Ambrosia. Now 5 years cancer free, she continues to find therapy in art and crafts in her home studio in Tucson, AZ. What are Power Pendants? Beads of Courage Power Pendants are handmade just for you by a borosilicate glass artist. They are one-of a-kind wearable pieces of art that can be used as a tool to help focus your thoughts during rough moments of anxiety or negative feelings. When worn or held, Power Pendants can help remind you of your resilience and spark an inner strength that can speak to your heart (emotions) and mind (focus) in a powerful way. How can you help? We are seeking your insight to help us write a booklet that will include words, phrases, images, poetry, and mantras that can be shared with other young adults coping with cancer to help them through the hard days. We want to know what sparks your joy or brings you hope when you are feeling down to encourage others going through similar experiences. Your input is incredible valuable as you have been on an active healing path. The conscious steps you have taken to keep focus and move in a positive direction can not only be beneficial to yourself but be tremendously helpful to others. We want every young adult coping with cancer to feel strong in fighting their diagnosis. The goal: This booklet will be a resourceful tool to accompany every Power Pendant we give to adolescents and young adults. We want to share Power Pendants with young adults across the world, bringing encouragement to thousands of survivors with words specifically chosen by young adults coping with cancer themselves. There is power in shared experience. This booklet and power pendant will be a reminder that you are not alone in your fight and that you have the strength of a thousand AYA warriors beside you, cheering you on. We need your help! Be a part of the Power Pendant Project. Thank you! 1. Complete the survey below. 2. Upon completion of the survey, and review by BOC, you will be able to hand pick a Power Pendant that speaks to you. You will receive an email with a link to choose your one of a kind Power Pendant. (Give us a few days to review entries and get back to you). 3. Once you receive your Power Pendant, you will be provided with another opportunity to submit words, phrases, images, poetry, lyrics, or mantras that you have been inspired from. 4. Beads of Courage will combine your insightful answers with other AYA to create the Power Pendant booklet that will accompany each Power Pendant given to a young adult coping with cancer.
